Commission Introduction


The Commission will regulate all NDIS providers, provide national consistency, promote safety and quality services, resolve problems and identify areas for improvement.

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is an independent agency established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.

The NDIS Commission works with NDIS clients, providers, workers, and the community to ensure a consistent approach so that clients can access services and supports across Australia that promote choice, control, and dignity.

Code of conduct

The NDIS Commission has its own Code of Conduct as well as a training orientation module called ‘Quality, Safety and You’ which explains the obligations of all workers. All disability workers must complete the orientation module prior to commencing work.

NDIS worker screening database

From 21 February 2020 a new national safety screening press will be implemented. This involves an assessment of the worker to ensure they do not pose a risk to people with a disability and will either clear or exclude a worker from working in certain roles with people with disability.

The NDIS Worker Screening Database will hold a register of workers who have applied for a check. Employers and self-managed clients will be able to access the database to view the clearance status of a potential worker.

Transitional checks are in place for each state and until a worker obtains a NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, they must have clearance from each state they work in.
